I thought it was a great fast read. My only real complaint was that Dunstan called Marion wren. At first he thought she was a quiet plain brown wren, but his option changed and the fact that he almost always called her wren got on my nerves. It just didn't seem like an endearment after he realized he cared for her. I also admit that her attempts to escape where not the best, but the one review was really way off in saying she was really stupid, and would probably run into a tree and die of either a brain hemorrhage or dehydration. She was not that bad. She was locked away most of her life, and treated badly by her uncle. It is not as if she had a lot of experience out in the world other than the 6 months she had spent at the de Burghs castle. Dunstan was pretty arrogant at first and did not see women really as people, but he did turn around a bit at a time during the book. He was another big strong warrior, who did not think that love was for him, or real. It was funny that he got really jealous of his brothers at first when he was fighting the fact that he was in love. He started worrying that she was going to leave him, and became sort of obsessed with getting her pregnant. She did not really state that, but that is what it amounted to.

Geoffrey's story is next.

Taming The Wolf Deborah Simmons 9780373288847 Books Reviews

I loved this story. When I read a romance book I look for alpha males, that are tamed by their feisty heroines; though not too tame, there still has to be that steely hard-edged man, who shows his love his soft side. I have not been disappointed with any of Ms. Simmons stories.
First of seven stories in the "de Burgh series. It holds your attention from start to finish.
In the tradition of Julie Garwood an entertaining medieval romance. A wren becomes a feisty falcon and falls in love with a wolf.
It was a good book love the heroine how she came into her own as the book progress I did get upset with the hero that at times then I remember what year the story was written love the secondary characters will read their stories.
I loved Dunstan....he was one hot alpha male. I took one star off for Marion who I liked one minute and was annoyed with the next. Something about her rubbed me the wrong way at times....without giving something away, I'll just say I didn't agree with some of her decisions. The storyline was quite good and definitely held my attention the whole way through. I loved the de Burgh family and am looking forward to getting to know them better in subsequent books.
This is my third book by this author and I can't say I was impressed. It was not as awful as Maiden Bride but not as wonderful as The Devil's Lady. I would have given it three stars if the heroine was not so irritating. I'm still trying to decide if I should try to read one more book by the author, in an attempt to find the same magic as The Devil's Lady, or give up on her altogether.
This book has all the ingredients that I love in a good romance novel

1. A hero who is a strong, fierce, macho warrior..... however one that is clueless about love and emotion.
2. A heroine who is strong, independent, and not afraid to push her hero's buttons.
3. A strong family with strong ties to one another.
4. A book that gives the hero/heroine significant time in the book alone with one another!
5. A book that has a some intrigue, suspense, humor, and sadness.
6. A book with scorching sensuality.
7. A hero who '"falls hard" for his lady and reforms.
8. A satisfying ending.

I know this is pretty much the formula for all romance novels, but SERIOUSLY Deborah Simmons does this formula flawlessly. I liken this book to some of my favorite Garwood novels, but it is truly one on to it's own.

This is book 1 of the de Burgh family series...and it is staying on my keeper shelf for good. I may even reread it now (which is very unlike me!) It has it all!
